More than 30 of Napa Valley’s best female winemakers and proprietors will be gathered under one roof at the Westin Verasa Napa to pour their wines for over 250 guests. The celebration, sponsored by MORE® magazine, is one of thousands of events scheduled across the globe where women will gather together for inspiration and to celebrate achievements.
“We are so proud to showcase the hard work, talent and collaborative spirit on such a special day,” said Women of the Vine Founder, Deborah Brenner. “March is also Women’s History Month in our country. There just isn’t a better time to celebrate some of the most influential women who have helped make wine culture what it is today. It’s going to be a spectacular day.”
The International Women’s Day celebration will hold special meaning for Brenner personally as she looks back on her career and how she brought together her remarkable network of winemaking women. For 16 years, she traveled the world as a marketer of computer technology used by television and film studios and was involved in four successful high-end technology start-ups. She found success as an executive, but she longed for a change and to unleash her entrepreneurial spirit.
Her passion for food and wine led to a trip to the Napa Valley and curiosity prompted Brenner to do more research on women in the winemaking business. The idea for a book titled, Women of the Vine was born, and Brenner was soon trekking to California from New York to interview passionate (and famous) winemaking women entrepreneurs. Women of the Vine was selected in December 2007 by Wine Spectator magazine as a “Critical Reading, the best books of the year for any wine lover’s library”.
Inspired while writing the acclaimed book, Brenner realized she could champion the women more directly by going into the wine business herself, so the Women of the Vine® label was born. She founded the company in September 2007 and her label is now sold in 36 States and online. Click here to view the Women of the Vine Marketplace.
Women of the Vine is also proud to be the first and only winery partner of Farm Aid founded by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young. In support of maintaining the timeless partnership between farmer and winemakers, Women of the Vine gives ongoing donations for all wine sales to support Farm Aid’s mission to keep America’s farmers on the land while showcasing our sustainably produced wines.
This rare and upcoming Women of the Vine grand tasting has attracted exceptional partnerships. In addition to MORE® magazine; American Airlines, Avis car rental company, plus Westin Verasa Napa are all supporting the International Women’s Day celebration. The event will take place from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at this link: http://womenofthevine.eventbrite.com/
