Wine Country Gift Baskets

Sometimes we forget how special it is to live in the North Bay—but don’t think for a minute that those who live elsewhere aren’t jealous all the time. Here are some perfect gift baskets and sampler packs to remind them just how much better it is to be here.

Kozlowski Farms in Forestville offers both gift baskets and gift boxes filled with its famous farm-sourced sauces, syrups, jams, jellies, mustards, vinegars, dressings, marmalades and chutneys. Bonus points: You can also order one of its famous pies to either pick up at the farm or have delivered (via two-day air).

Rustic Bakery, with locations in Larkspur and Novato, and Beth’s Community Kitchen in Mill Valley, also offer delectable assorted baked goods, including breads, granolas and cookies, which are sure to please.

Petaluma’s Marin French Cheese Company offers collections of some of its most popular choices in four- or eight-ounce rounds; some also include accessories such as a cheese knife or ceramic baker. In addition to a variety of prepackaged choices, Sonoma Cheese Factory lets you build your own, including not just cheese, but also local beer and wine and accompaniments including crackers, jams, mustards, snacks and candies.

Though known primarily as a winery, Round Pond Estate in Napa Valley also produces world-class olive oils, vinegars and citrus syrups. Some gift sets combine these items with Round Pond’s award-winning wine.

For something a little more out of the ordinary, check out Sebastopol’s Beekind, which offers custom baskets to fit most price points, filled with honey, honeycomb, beeswax candles and other sweet surprises.

Of course, if you’re looking for sweet, nothing compares to chocolate. Woodhouse Chocolates on St. Helena’s Main Street perfectly captures the luxury of Wine Country in decadent truffles, caramels, nuts, bars and chews. Wine Country Chocolates lets you mix and match your own favorite truffles in a four-, seven- or 12-piece box. It also offers various barks and unique items such as chocolate grape clusters, wine bottles and picture frames.

Petaluma-based Torn Ranch uses all-natural, sustainable and organic ingredients from local farmers for its wide variety of tasty packages, ranging from small samplers to elegant larger gift baskets and fruit-and-nut trays (including its signature Torn Ranch Rose). Torn Ranch products are made to order and available online.

In addition to what’s covered here, there are many more choices of yummy Wine Country tastes. Search online for even more choices. Many North Bay wineries also offer beautiful gift sets, often sorted by varietal, vintage or vineyard. Check for your favorites and pair them with some of these gourmet treats.
