“The Ghilotti Construction Family thanks all of those who voted for us, and, of course, our employees for giving them a reason to do so.” — Ghilotti Construction Company.

For the third consecutive year, Ghilotti Construction Company wins Best Builder/Contractor. Ghilotti is a family-owned and operated general engineering construction company located in Santa Rosa, with satellite offices in Livermore, San Rafael, American Canyon and Sunnyvale ready to serve the North Bay.

Family owned and operated since 1914, Ghilotti Construction Company has over 100 years of engineering experience and a family tradition of hard work and dependability. The story of Ghilotti Construction Company is the story of the American Dream. A stone mason by trade, founding family member, James Ghilotti, left his native Italy to come seeking his fortune in California. Transporting stones all over the north bay by horse and cart, his back-breaking hard work and business philosophy paid off as his company grew from small paving jobs to building bridges and highways. Now, the company has more than 450 employees contributing to its success, and reported more than $200 million in revenue in June 2018. James Ghilotti’s original business philosophy is kept alive and well by the entire organization: Do good work. Be responsible. Take care of the community and the people who work for you.

After the wildfires of 2017, Ghilotti’s philosophy was on full display. The company raised $200,000 from friends and supporters after 10 of its employees lost their home. Ghilotti also contributed $150,000 to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund and set up lodging in a warehouse for National Guardsman that arrived to aid recovery. Ghilotti also helped cleanup efforts, with its crews working 12-hour days, seven days a week at times. To get the job done, Ghilotti maintains a fleet of more than 100 on-road vehicles and 135 pieces of off-road heavy equipment. Asphalt Grinders, bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, forklifts and loaders are all operated expertly by Ghilotti’s employees.

GCC’s expertise is seen throughout Northern California. Major milestone projects include Skywalker Ranch and Big Rock Ranch in Lucas Valley, Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Mare Island in Solano County, The Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Novato, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa and Graton Rancheria Casino in Rohnert Park. Ghilotti has also performed major winery expansions in the Napa Valley and large regional shopping centers in Petaluma, Walnut Creek, Livermore and Pleasanton. Recently, GCC has performed site work for several major high tech campuses that have changed the face of Silicon Valley and beyond. Among GCC’s satisfied customers, they are fortunate to have shared in the growth and success of many of Northern California’s finest businesses. Ghilotti works to maintain a strong focus on client satisfaction and service, the constant pursuit of new technologies and providing a work place full of opportunity for our employees.

When NorthBay biz asked what it meant to be voted by readers as the Best Builder and Contractor, Ghilotti replied, “It’s truly an honor. The Ghilotti Construction Family thanks all of those who voted for us, and, of course, our employees for giving them a reason to do so.”
