WoodWorks Hosts Workshops on Exceeding Expectations with Wood Building Design



What:               The Wood Products Council’s WoodWorks program is hosting a series of technical workshops, November 15-17, in Fresno, Sacramento, and San Diego, Calif. The workshops will focus on building codes, advanced building systems and the positive impacts of wood relative to carbon footprint and healing environments.


                        Workshop topics and speakers include:


·         Changes to the International and California Building Codes for Wood Design

Presented by Lisa Podesto, PE, WoodWorks

·         Minimizing the Carbon Footprint of Buildings

Presented by Dr. Jim Bowyer, Dovetail Partners, Inc., Bowyer & Associates, Inc.

·         Advancements in Engineered Wood Beams

Karyn Beebe, PE, LEED AP, APA

·         Case Studies – The Impacts of Wood Construction in Healing Environments

Martin Despang, Dipl. Ing. Architekt, University of Arizona

Meghan Sarkozi, MBH Architects


                        The cost of the workshop is $69 before October 31 and $79 after and includes lunch. Eligible attendees will qualify for 4 AIA/CES LUs or PDH credits.


Who/Why:        These workshops are designed for engineers, architects, developers, code officials, contractors, and others with an interest in both technical and sustainability issues related to non-residential wood buildings (including commercial, industrial, multi-family and other building types).
