Marin County Fair
This year, the Marin County Fair, June 30 through July 4, will celebrate the rich and varied traditions that have become the foundations for fairs all across the United States.
Event Description

Originally begun in the early 1800s as a way for farmers to find out about new farming methods and equipment, agricultural fairs evolved into annual family get-togethers where communities could enjoy competitions, exhibits and entertainment.

For 2012, fairgoers will enjoy a spectacular theme focusing on Marin’s agricultural legacy and innovation that will showcase local products, combined with a Marin County twist of being progressive, green, and committed to a sustainable future.

The very first Marin County Fair took place in 1946 at the Marin Art and Garden Center with the goal to provide a place where Marinites could share ideas and techniques in fine arts, gardens, fruits, vegetables and floral arrangements. Competitions were developed over the years in a variety of categories to determine which entries were the best in Marin. The Fair now features over 800 categories, over 13,500 exhibits and over 6,000 annual entrants from Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fee: $0.00
