FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION VIGIL:
OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
In honor of October being nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) invites the entire community to join us for the 11h Annual Family Violence Prevention Vigil being held Thursday, October 16th, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Main Street, Napa.
We encourage everyone to take a stand against family violence by joining us for this moving event. Together we will celebrate the strength of survivors and give hope to those who suffer with violence at home every day in our own backyard.
Vigil attendees will participate in evening of entertainment, refreshments, and inspirational speakers and will culminate in a candlelight walk.
Victim and Witness Services, Sexual Assault Victim Services (programs of the Volunteer Center of Napa Valley), The Child Abuse Prevention Council of Napa, Legal Aid of Napa Valley and others join together with Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) in presenting this event. SPONSORED IN PART BY 14-40 KVON
NEWS provides 24 hour crisis intervention services, confidential shelter, court advocacy, support groups, a Domestic Violence Response Team, volunteer programs and transitional housing to victims and their children coping with domestic violence. Please join us in making this year’s vigil one that sends a clear message that it is time for family violence to end. We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
