Event Description

Blue Door Gallery is celebrating its one-year anniversary, on “First Friday” - October 4th, featuring interesting and exciting new work by three talented local artists.

Ceramicist Marge Margulies’ pottery is lighthearted fun, funky and super-functional. A semi- recent transplant from Philadelphia, this lifelong ceramicist creates lively colorful centerpieces that are the highlight of a room and can also be used for gracious entertaining of every kind. NEW granite rock-inspired sculptural vases and wedding registry gorgeous tableware will be on display. Also available: Margulies’ multiple bowl or plate forms which are pushed pulled and poked, and then combined in surprising ways to make compelling color statements that transcend their purpose, but remain a vital decorative element as well as a useful food service essential.

Discover new work by Mary Livingston, long-time artist in Sonoma County. Livingston apprenticed in decorative faux painting and has worked in that field for twenty-some years, incorporating a diverse array of mediums, textures, effects and colors. She has taught and inspired art for over six years in many venues. Mary is showing her most recent work - magnificent hand sewn kimonos from beautiful patterned wearable fabrics.

Enjoy multi-dimensional paper collage by Douglas DeVivo! “Not Just Pretty Paper,” is how DeVivo describes his creations, which combine bits of written history, old illustrations and slivers of personal histories into complex yet engaging art. He hides the meaning of collage behind layers of colorful, fun imagery that makes it comfortable to engage the piece. Douglas encourages people to stop by and look, be surprised and see something new.

Visit the Blue Door Gallery for all the fun, including an art project for everyone to participate in and libations on Friday, October 4th from 5-8PM.
