|Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch|
Fundraiser for the Courtney Jade Davis Memorial Scholarship at the Cloverdale Oktoberfest Celebration.
Cloverdale Plaza, Cloverdale
On Saturday, October 5th from 1-8 p.m. the town of Cloverdale will be hosting their annual Oktoberfest celebration in the Plaza. German food, wine, beer and live music featuring Sonoma Goods Band, DPCT Rockin’ Blues Band and Josh Bishop, raffles, street vendors, children's activities, and more! Now in its 10th year, Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch will be a major feature of the event. The highlights of the day will include a silent auction with over 60 items donated from the community, pumpkin toss, photo booth where children can have their picture taken with a huge pumpkin, prizes, games and of course, pumpkins for sale. Silent auction items include: Two night stay at Madrona Manor Inn, coast getaway packages, spa treatments, canoe trips, wine, wine tasting tours, restaurant gift certificates and much more. Raffle tickets are on sale now and at the event for tickets to Bryan Adams: Bare Bones Tour at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on October 17th. In 2003, Courtney, a junior high school student of Cloverdale organized the first Pumpkin Patch fundraiser. The proceeds benefitted The Cloverdale Family Service and her school. The following year, she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer and in January 2008 succumbed to the disease. Courtney’s fight and amazing attitude were an inspiration to the entire community and her death left a hole in the heart of the entire community. In 2008, the Cloverdale High School, where she attended, set up the Courtney Jade Davis Memorial Scholarship in her memory. As a fundraising effort for the scholarship, her friends and family decided to carry on her “Pumpkin Patch” in her name. Each year its success and popularity grows and last year over $6,000 was raised and awarded to graduating seniors. This is the Scholarships only fundraiser.
The OktoberFest is being sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale and Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Courtney Jade Davis Memorial Scholarship at Cloverdale High School and the Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale.
In the spirit of this unique community, we hope you will be able to join the festivities.
