The Napa Valley Art Association welcomes attorney Seth I. Appel, a copyright practitioner from San Francisco to Napa to address the fundamentals of copyright law. Copyright Basics – What Every Artist Should Know is for artists interested in protecting and enforcing their copyrights, and for anyone wondering about this important aspect of the art world. Both artists and non-artists are welcome.

Seth I. Appel is an attorney at Harvey Siskind LLP, a San Francisco law firm specializing in intellectual property. Seth Appel's practice emphasizes various aspects of intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, trade dress, right of publicity, and trade secrets. He also has experience in commercial litigation, as well as employment law and defamation law. He is Chair of the Copyright Subcommittee of the ABA Special Committee on Promotion and Marketing Law.
