Guide to a Successful Remodel: Lighting Solutions for Your Home!

Considering a remodel or new building project?
Not sure how to begin?

When remodeling, don't neglect your lighting needs.  Good lighting design and choosing the proper fixtures will make your home's spaces more beautiful, functional and inviting.

Join us Saturday, March 1st for this popular workshop to get your bearings.

  • LED’s – So much is new! How do you make a selection?
  • What is Kelvin temperature?  Why should you know about it?
  • “Cliff’s Notes” on the Title 24 Energy Code for residential lighting.
  • Learn about layering of light for beautiful results throughout the house.
  • Can lighting make you look great in the mirror in the morning?

Nancy McCoy is an independent lighting designer working on residential and small commercial projects.  She works by specifying layers of lights, doesn’t like to see glarey downlights and enjoys finding wonderful fixtures to enchant a space.  In her thirty five years of experience, she has won design awards for her work and has been published in magazines including Fine HomeBuilding, Inspired House, Sunset, Interiors, and Hospitality.  She has taught lighting seminars nationally for the American Lighting Association, has spoken at national conferences for NKBA, NAHB, JLC, IES and ALA.  Nancy is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).

Dave Leff, president of Leff Construction, has been leading his company since founding it in 1978.  Over the years he has applied many different building philosophies and methods including solar and sustainable building, historical renovation and infill real estate development. He is interested in innovative building approaches and has added the best of these into his design-build systems at Leff Construction.  During the late 1990's, Dave taught "The ABC's of Remodeling" at Santa Rosa Junior College educating homeowners and contractors about the remodeling process. Dave frequently contributes design-build and construction articles to trade magazines and local publications and participates regularly in remodeling workshops and panels.  His company was selected to join the Remodeling Magazine Big50 in 2008, and he currently serves on the board of the Sebastopol chapter of Rebuilding Together.

Our workshops are always free, always fun, and of course we will have delicious snacks. Because space is limited, advance registration is required.
