The best way to beat the shopping madness on Black Friday, is to avoid it completely! Extend the spirit of Thanksgiving holiday by gathering family and friends and enjoying a refreshing and inspiring After Thanksgiving Day hike at Jack London State Historic Park. Added benefit to this “turkey waddle” will be to walk off the feast from the day before. The 4 mile moderate hike meanders through mixed evergreens on the trail to the “Grandmother Tree,” an Ancient Redwood 14 feet in diameter and estimated to be 2,000 years old.

WHEN: Friday, November 28 from 10 am to noon

WHERE: Meet in the Ranch Parking Lot
Jack London State Historic Park, 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen (NOTE: Rain cancels walk)

Wear sturdy shoes and bring water.


Admission is $10 per person (plus the $10 per car parking fee collected at entrance kiosk). Hike reservations can be arranged in advance online or purchased at the Museum. Info at
