Water Color Class
Jack London State Historic Park
Spring Watercolor Painting Classes at
Saturday March 21 & April 18
As the weather warms, days grow longer and wildflowers bloom, the light and environs of Jack London State Historic Park beckon artists to set up easels to capture the distinctive pictures of the Park in spring. Two Watercolor painting classes, both appropriate for those with beginning as well as intermediate skills are offered.
In March: Learn how to take your creativity to a new level while enjoying the outdoors in a novel, innovative art class, “Watercolors on the fly” taught by artist Valorie Bader. "I love to travel, hike, and paint,” explains Valorie. “Over time, I have put together the essentials for setting up my own little ‘pop up’ studio.” Learn skills to complete a painting in a half hour while enjoying a hike. This class is for anyone who loves nature, wants to develop a keener eye for what you are seeing, and practice a little eye-hand coordination.
In April: Artist and art instructor Donna DeLaBriandais will demonstrate easy drawing and painting techniques for “Sketching in the Cottage Garden,” employing various painting methods, including some utilized in oil painting known as “wet on wet.” The focus of this class will be instruction in recording a variety of images on paper, which will include flowers, vineyards and trees within the park. Donna is an accomplished artist and longtime teacher whose work has been exhibited in many galleries and juried art shows.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Check on jacklondonpark.com page for what to bring and wear for each of the classes.
