Billed as a lawn party for the arts and considered “one of the most beautiful outdoor art festivals in the nation,” the Marin Art Festival features art available for purchase from over 250 artists from California and beyond, including works from award-winning painters, sculptors, photographers, wood workers, jewelers and more.

Now in it’s thirteenth year, this popular event evokes the spirit of old-world European markets.  The festival is full of color and surprise and offers a unique line up of entertainment including strolling musicians, whimsical stilt walkers, hands-on art projects for children, and main stage live music.  As is tradition, Taiko drumming starts off the festival at 11am each morning followed by a full day of Salsa on Saturday and Swing on Sunday at the Copacabana Stage. (See line up below) New this year is our "Chance to Dance" Marin Dance Showcase stage on the Tropicana Stage.  Enjoy two full days of dance performances from Hula to Hip Hop from dance troupes, schools and individuals.
Guests can meander through tented pavilions on the grassy expanse near the lagoon while enjoying everything from wraps to crab cakes paired with premium wines and beers or can choose to be served by Drama student waiters in black-tie at the sit down gourmet food pavilion. Unique to the Marin Art Festival is an exciting hourly raffle where the winner is awarded a $100 credit towards the purchase any work of art at the show. Take Dad to a Lawn Party for the Arts this Fathers Day! There is something fun for everyone in the family.
Since its inception, the Marin Art Festival has showcased an artist as its Marin “Master Artist” based on an artist dedication to his/her trade and their contribution to Marin County. This year’s Master Artist is the late Timothy Rose, internationally acclaimed mobile sculpture artist and painter. Rose was very influential in the Marin County arts scene and began what became the community of artists’ ateliers at the Industrial Center Building in Sausalito.  He also co-founded the enormously successful Marin Open Studios.  His son Alexander will be representing his fathers and displaying his work at this year’s Marin Art Festival.  For more information about Timothy’s life and work please visit: http://www.mobilesculpture.com/.
