Event Description

Technology is changing how art is being made. From camera obscura to 3-D printers, technology has been used by artists for as long as there have been new innovations. However, in this age of computer technology, art and tech have become more intertwined than ever before.  Jeff Nathanson, curator of Time & Place, will moderate a conversation between Kim Anno and Lewis deSoto as they talk about their use of tech in their art, their explorations, and the evolution of their art as technology continues to change.

Kim Anno is a painter and filmmaker whose paintings have been exhibited in and collected by museums nationally and internationally. She is a professor in Graduate Fine Art and Painting at the California College of the Arts where she is currently teaching a course called: Art Lab: California Climate.

Lewis deSoto\\\'s work has been in the media of photography, sculpture, and installation. DeSoto is based in Napa, California and Los Angeles and has been a professor of photography at San Francisco State University since 1988.
