Event Description

Lyon Wealth Management (Lyon Wealth Management) and Wealth Legacy Group (Wealth Legacy Group) are pleased to present a unique series of engaging conversations on some of the pressing issues facing prosperous families.

These conversational luncheons, taking place on the third Tuesday of each month, will be hosted by experts in the field of wealth psychology—including Joel Kimmel and Emily Bouchard of Wealth Legacy Group; and Lisa Parker, President of the Lawrence Welk Foundation-- who have extensive experience dealing with the dilemmas and questions facing affluent families in the 21st century.

The Silver Spoon Dilemma: How do you raise children in an affluent family so that they become self-motivated, self-reliant, caring stewards of your family’s values and vision? How do you raise children who don’t become spoiled or unmotivated by your family’s wealth? At this luncheon you will learn about some fresh approaches to engaging with children of all ages about developing healthy values and attitudes related to money and privilege.

Forging a New Identity for Your Future: Are you getting ready for a transition? Perhaps you are transferring the reins to your heir apparent, or maybe in the midst of negotiations for an upcoming liquidity event that will require you to move on? Perhaps you are facing a soon-to-be empty nest and wanting to re-enter and re-engage with the world of work? Interested in how to find a new identity separate from the wealth and/or role that created it? Who will you be next? What do you want to do next? This luncheon will be about action, design, and vision. You will leave this event with specific ways to begin to build a new you, reconciling and integrating your values with the wealth and prestige you created or inherited.

Philanthropy Begins at 5 (co-led by Lisa Parker, President and CEO of the Lawrence Welk Family Foundation): Introducing Children to Philanthropy. How and when you choose to bring your children into a conversation about giving—giving to charity, to their community, to the world—will have a lasting impact on their attitudes as adults. Research now shows that people’s lifelong attitudes toward giving and giving back are formed very early—between the ages of 5 and 15. Join this lively luncheon discussion and learn about the latest research in the field of families and philanthropy, as well as how and when to start the giving conversation with your children.
