DEPUTY D.A. JAMAR TO SPEAK AT EMPIRE COLLEGE Santa Rosa, CA - Sonoma County Deputy District Attorney Scott Jamar will speak on the topic The Field of Law: Is It For You? at an informational seminar presented by Empire College School of Law. The seminar will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, at the College campus, 3035 Cleveland Avenue, Santa Rosa. Mr. Jamar has been a Sonoma County prosecutor for the past 12 years, responsible for a vast array of complex and serious felony cases, including gang assaults, major drug possession and sales, domestic violence, adult sexual assault and child molestation. His most recent conviction was in an attempted murder case resulting in a mandatory life sentence. Mr. Jamar was also a prosecutor in the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and practiced civil law for several years. A graduate of Empire College School of Law in 1994, Mr. Jamar teaches criminal law through the administration of justice program at Santa Rosa Junior College. He is active in the community coaching youth soccer and basketball. In addition to Mr. Jamar, Empire College School of Law alumna Loren Soukup will be present to discuss her career prior to and after law school, why she decided to go to law school, and what the experience was like. Ms. Soukup, who graduated in 2007, is now an attorney with Schools and College Legal Services. Empire College School of Law, founded in 1973, has consistently achieved the highest bar pass rate of all California Bar Accredited Law Schools since 2000. Its alumni comprise approximately 25 percent of the Sonoma County Bar and include members of the judiciary in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Merced Counties.
