Big Cat - Little Cat Afternoon
Cat-themed educational outreach program featuring 5 live wild cats from the Wild Cat Education & Conservation Fund
Sonoma,
Sheraton Sonoma County - Petaluma
Event Description

The Petaluma Animal Services Advisory Committee will be hosting our second annual Big Cat – Little Cat Afternoon at the pet-friendly Sheraton Sonoma County – Petaluma on Sunday, October 17, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM.  This electrifying event brings five ambassador wild cats from the Wild Cat Education & Conservation Fund to Petaluma, in support of the Animal Shelter’s goals to educate the public about the grace, intelligence, and dignity of the feline species, as well as increase adoptions of our cats and kittens to good homes.  The Animal Shelter will also bring the new mobile adoption center, known as the “Cuddle Shuttle”, with cats and kittens available for adoption.

There will also be a brief presentation by Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County, whose mission is dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of feral cats through local spay/neuter programs, placement services, community outreach and nationwide education.  Forgotten Felines is committed to a world where all animals are treated with compassion and respect, and is dedicated to elevating the quality of life of feral cats and ending the pain and suffering of all cats living among us.  Also attending will be the Mayor of Petaluma, Pam Torliatt, and the City Council Liaison to the Animal Services Advisory Committee, David Rabbitt.

We have had tremendous help from local sponsors, including the Pet-friendly Sheraton Sonoma County – Petaluma for providing the venue, and Whole Foods Market Petaluma.  Other local businesses are donating door prizes for kids and grown-ups, which will be included with each admission ticket.  Prizes to be awarded include gift certificates from Fit’N’Furry Pet Resort and Powell’s Sweet Shoppe in Petaluma, a selection of premium wines from Vintage Wine Estates/Windsor Vineyards, and a cat sleeping platform from C&D Pet Products.  To cap it off, the Animal Services Advisory Committee will be drawing the three winners for the 2010 “Give Them Shelter” fund-raising raffle.

When:                  Sunday, October 17, 2010 – 2:00-3:30 PM (doors open at 1:30)

Where:                 Sheraton Sonoma County, 745 Baywood Drive, Petaluma

You can purchase advance tickets at the Petaluma Animal Shelter.  Tickets will also be available at the door.  Seating is limited, so we recommend that you purchase tickets in advance.  Ticket cost is $10, or $5 for children under 12 years old.
