|Senior Live Well Presentation: Improving Memory Through Music|
Healdsburg District Hospital is hosting another free community event through it's Senior Live Well Program
Healdsburg Dry Creek Inn - Krug Event Center
Healdsburg District Hospital's Senior Live Well program is proud to offer another free presentation:
"Improving Memory Through Music." Allan Bernstein, M.D., a local Neurologist will discuss how music influences learning and memory by examining the part of your brain that links music, memory and emotions. Dr. Bernstein will review recent studies that have shown not only can you derive pleasure from listening to your favorite music, but that this can actually help improve your memory as well. This presentation will also focus on the relationship between music and Alzheime's disease and harnessing the power of music as a therapeutic treatment for people suffering from this condition.
Dr. Bernstein is on staff at Healdsburg District Hospital (HDH) and a consulting Neurologist at both the HDH Kozel Stroke Institute and Palm Drive Hospital. He is principal investigator in neurological disease at Radiant Research in Santa Rosa. His area of research and publications include Alzheimer's disease, migraine and nutrition.
Dr. Bernstein served as a Professor of Clinical Neurology at the School of Medicine, University of California, Davis, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine, UCSF Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program. He was also a visiting professor in Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia and Singapore. The HDH Senor Live Well Program was developed to educate HDH patients and the community about a diverse range of medical topics.
Evan Rayner, CEO of HDH says, "We want to empower our patients with health knowledge so they can make better decisions about their own health."
The "Improving Memory Through Music" presentation will be on Thursday, March 17th from 9:30 to 11:30a.m. The presentation is free and will be held at the Dry Creek Inn - Krug Event Center located at 198 Dry Creek Rd., Healdsburg.
