Event Description

The Contemporary Issues Series is presented by Sonoma Country Day School to promote critical thinking about ideas of importance to the life of our community. Dave Eggers is the author of seven books. His writing has prompted the creation of the Zeitoun Foundation to aid the rebuilding of New Orleans and promote interfaith understanding. His book "What is the What" led to a foundation dedicated to building secondary schools in southern Sudan. Eggers also co-founded 826 Valencia, a nonprofit tutoring center in San Francisco. The center's success includes the establishment of seven other 826 centers around the country. Vendela Vida is an award winning writer of fiction and non-fiction pieces, as well as a screenwriter and magazine editor. Ms. Vida and Mr. Eggers will be in conversation with Davia Nelson, one half of the Kitchen Sisters on NPR. Ms. Nelson is also a screenwriter and casting director. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Purchase tickets online at www.scdsevents.org.
